Kawakawa The heart of Rongoa Maori

Gathering Rongoa for my products is one of my favourite parts of making magic

When gathering Kawakawa I was taught that you should always say a karakia before and after you start your journey to the ngahere as well as when you arrive to start picking. We must remember to acknowledge the atua of our elements when entering into their domain.

As Kaitiaki we must practice caring and respecting nature and all it provides for us. Kawakawa is known as "The heart of healing" and offers many benefits in health and beauty. It is important for me to maintain a quality of standard to source my rongoa locally, ethically and using tikanga practices.
